The sea wants to have me.
My soul from it is free.
I am the master you see.
And this shall never be.
*
Every day a sailing I will go.
Wind rain sleet and snow.
Sailing I must go.
 *
The sea wants to have me.
And this shall never be.
*
Year by year goes by.
I am there on the seas of high.
Another year and sailing am I.
 *
The sea wants to have me.
And this shall never be.
 *
Now I am old.
A sailor so bold.
Onto sailing I hold.
*
The sea wants to have me.
And this shall never be.
*
The sea in me grew from a seed.
The marvelous adventures
that books have planted in me!
